Florida United Methodist Children's Home

The Florida United Methodist Children’s Home is one of the key community outreach programs supported by New Horizon. The kids in this home are amazing, and it is such a privilege to get to know them and to raise awareness and support for this important work.

The Children’s Home offers specialized residential care and treatment with nurturing house-parents and therapists who help each child. Additionally, the Children’s Home reaches into the community by recruiting, training, licensing and monitoring loving foster families and adoption services.

For more information, visit the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home website.

Foster Care Program in South Florida

The Florida United Methodist Children’s Home also reaches into the community by recruiting, training, licensing and monitoring loving foster care families and adoption services. And now their foster care services are in South Florida. Nearly 1,000 children were helped through the Home last year!

We believe that children will thrive most in homes of faith. If you believe God is calling you to share His love with a child by becoming a foster parent, please contact Cedric Davis by phone at (813) 240-9980 or by email at cedric.davis@fumch.org.

New Horizon Golf Classic and Silent Auction

The 38th annual Golf Classic will be held on Saturday May 18, 2024, in the Jacaranda Golf Club.  Our event will be a success with the participation of our many golfers and volunteers.

This is the 21st year that these events will benefit the Children’s Home Foster Care Program in Broward and Palm Beach County, so all proceeds from both events will continue to support this program.  This foster care program helps nearly 1200 children each year. The campuses located in Enterprise and Madison provide a haven for children who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned, giving them a safe place to heal, be supported and to grow into healthy, independent adults.

New Horizon uses Bidpal at our Golf Classic and Silent Auction. Bidpal mobile app simplifies the Golfer Registration, Sponsor donation and the Silent Auction bidding at the event. All you need is your Smartphone; it is that easy! For the Golf Classic, create an account in http://bidpal.net/nhgolf  and log in to the site. For the Silent Auction, create and account in http://bidpal.net/nhauction

Pumpkin Patch

Each year, the New Horizon Methodist Men group sponsors our Pumpkin Patch event. This is a major outreach for our church and brings hundreds of people from our community into New Horizon United Methodist Church. Preschool children arrive by the busload and enjoy storytelling and other festivities while they wait for their big moment- picking out a pumpkin of their very own. This is an event to be enjoyed by entire families and is a long-standing tradition with many.

One of the most amazing aspects of this event is watching the truckloads of pumpkins get unloaded. The congregation always pitches in, youth and adult alike, and pass the pumpkins down the line from truck to final destination. It is a moment of true comradery, even with people you do not even know, working together to accomplish a great objective.

The Methodist Men’s group uses the money raised to support a wealth of missions throughout the church, including the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home and Hallandale Food Pantry.
